Cross country teams run away with Bloomington meet

Calhoun Cross Country Teams Run Away with Bloomington Meet

The Calhoun Cross Country teams traveled to Riverside Park in Victoria last Saturday for the Bloomington Meet and once again dominated the competition.  “The teams conquered a hilly and challenging course,” said Cross Country Coach Kathy Hellums.  “The Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls, Junior Varsity Boys and Junior Varsity Girls, and the Travis Middle School Girls all took team championships.  The Seadrift Boys team took second just ahead of the Travis Middle School boys who finished third. Corey Barrientos and Oscar Gaona finished first and second in the Varsity Boys race as did Ashleigh Gottschalt and Ashley Hernandez in the Varsity Girls race.”

“I am so excited and proud of all these kids,” said Hellums.  “They work so hard and are so dedicated to be up and out to practice at 5:45 every morning.  It is awesome to see them rewarded for all of that work.”
