Calhoun County Commissioners on Thursday declared a burn ban for Calhoun County in accordance to the necessary action on the Order Prohibiting Outdoor Burning.

The court also approved the addendums to the 2008 Calhoun County Reroofs Specifications. Jody Weaver spoke on behalf of the County. Currently, nine bids have been received and all bidders have been made aware that the bids in which they have submitted are for the airport and library. Weaver said it is an easier job for the contractor to do both jobs instead of having two separate contractors do both jobs independently.

Commissioners also approved that new bids for the new flooring of Calhoun County Library will be received until Nov. 10. Also the Commissioners voted to reject all bids for the Calhoun County Courthouse Annex II until a later date.

In public hearing the County took action to amend the 2008 Calhoun County and Memorial Medical Center budgets. An increase of over $161,00 was needed and the court approved monthly payments to MMC.

Gloria Ochoa presented the court with an agreement for the Tax Assessor/Collector to receive a debit and credit card machine for payments. Currently, all payments must be paid by check, cash or money order and are only available to be paid online with a credit or debit card. This machine will be used in the payments for vehicle registration, title transfers, and other office transactions. The court approved the trial use of a machine.
