Eusebio “Chevo” C. Mendoza, 79, of Port Lavaca, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008.
He was born March 5, 1929, in Yorktown, to the late Maria Cuellar Reyes and Carlos Mendoza. He was a retired maintenance employee with the Calhoun County Independent School District. He was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Elida Vega Mendoza of Port Lavaca; daughters, Linda Carlyle, Sylvia Mendoza and Ida Mendoza, all of Port Lavaca, Annie Sepeda of Illinois and Rose Atkinson of Porter; stepdaughters, Belen Ayala and Mary Ann Gutierrez, both of Victoria, Susie Jimenez and Brenda Cespedes, both of Port Lavaca; sons, Oscar Mendoza of Houston and Rene Mendoza of Port Lavaca; stepsons, Valentino Alvarado, Gilbert Alvarado Jr. and Celestino Alvarado Sr., all of Victoria; sisters, Eluteria Lara and Vale Torres, both of Port Lavaca, and Annie Mungia of Corpus Christi; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janie Mendoza and brother, Timoteo Mendoza Sr.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial followed at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Oscar Mendoza, Rene Mendoza, Tyrone Samuel Carlyle, Zeke Carlyle, Henry Sowa and Michael Sowa.
Artero Memorial Chapels, Port Lavaca, 361-552-2300 was in charge of arrangements.
