Sandcrabs to face Floresville

The Floresville Tigers may have avoided the Sandcrabs when most of the coast was avoiding Hurricane Ike, but it looks as if the two teams were destined to meet no matter what. In a repeat of last year, Calhoun will face Floresville in the first round of the 2008 football playoffs.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, and the game will be played at Memorial Stadium in Victoria. The Tigers dropped their final game of the season to Pleasanton and bring a 7-2 overall record into the game against the 7-1 Sandcrabs.

" WAY TO GO SANDCRABS!! You came together as a team and you played as a team and once again showed the strength of the team that played in the Alamodome. All of tonight's players did a great job...and the peek we got at next year's players really looked good! Congratulations on your Bi-district title...you have made us proud.
Now keep up that teamwork and focus on next weeks game against Edcouch Elsa. They are a good team...but they are beatable and THIS Sandcrab team is the one who can get it done.

I have no doubt that Sandcrab players were very aware of the difference in the fan base during their last game played against Miller. Calhoun County fans were there in full force to back "our" team. There is no doubt that we will again fill and overflow the stands this Saturday night to do our part in supporting our Sandcrab team as they play against Floresville.
You know during our first winning season the county seemed to be on a magic carpet ride for those 3 months of the football season. During last year's season we all just held our breath and hoped that the 2007 team would prove to us that it was not all just a lucky break, and they came through. This season started differently with so many of our team returning and with the added pride of being recognized in state polls. This year's team has proved that they are a team worthy of that honor. You have represented our school and our community well this year and we are proud of you all.
Remember that this is your time to shine and the opportunities for walking away winners will only come around once...make the most of it and don't let ANYTHING or ANYBODY stand in the way. Don't forget that the game of Football is a TEAM sport, every player has a job to do, and every player is an important part of the team's successes or failures. The secret weapon that this Sandcrab team posesses and has made you a team to be reckoned with has been the fact that you have shown that you are a finely tuned team...and play that way. When you play as a team you come out as BIG winners.
Good Luck in your first playoff game, we believe in you and have no doubt that you can go as far as you desire. We will all be there filling the stands and cheering you on to victory. "
