Five sentenced to over 80 years
Calhoun County District Court in October sentenced five offenders to over 80 years in prison, according to an October report from the office of District Attorney Dan Heard.
This included the 45-year sentence of Janice Louise Bonnell, 45, of Seadrift, who was sentenced for murdering her husband on April 24.
Gary Michael Browning was sentenced to 12 months in a state jail facility for evading arrest or detention using a vehicle on May 24. Browning, 45, was a San Antonio resident.
Robert Bobby Flores, 48, of Port Lavaca, was sentenced to 14 months in a state jail facility for delivery of a controlled substance on May 6.
Ben Henry Lewis, 54, Victoria, was sentenced to 10 years in the Texas Department of Corrections for delivery of a controlled substance on July 17.
Daniel Thompson Franklin, 19, of Seadrift, was sentenced to six months in a state jail facility for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on May 30.
Court sentenced 17-year-old Samantha Lee Garza of Port Lavaca to three years deferred probation for felony theft on Jan. 28. She was ordered to pay $50 to Crime Stoppers.
Edward Hernandez, 18, of Port Lavaca, was sentenced to five years deferred probation for delivery of a controlled substance on July 12. He was ordered to pay $50 to Crime Stoppers.
Jimmy Ray Maseda, 35, Port Lavaca, received three years probation for evading arrest or detention using a vehicle on June 1. He will also spend 12 days in the county jail and will participate in alcohol and drug treatment. He was ordered to pay $50 to Crime Stoppers.
Guillermo Rodriguez, 19, of Pasadena, received 10 years probation for engaging in organized criminal activity on July 18. He must pay a $1,000 fine, $3,128.44 in restitution, do 220 hours of community service, pay $50 to Crime Stoppers and spend 90 days in the county jail.
James Richard Santos Jr., 28, of Tivoli, was given three years probation for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger on June 13. He was fined $1,000, must pay $50 to Crime Stoppers and must participate in an alcohol and drug program.
Daniel Franklin Thompson, 19, of Seadrift, was sentenced to 10 years deferred probation for indecency with a child by contact on July 24. He must pay $50 to Crime Stoppers and comply with sex offender rules. He must refrain from any contact with the victim.
District court revoked two probations. Richard Reymundo Aguilar, 19, of Port Lavaca, was sentenced to two years in a State Jail Facility for violation of probation. Joey Luis Villarreal, 20, of Port Lavaca, was sentenced to four years in the institutional division of the Texas Department of Corrections for violating his probation.
