Rubye Wynn Maroney Madden, 89, of Port Lavaca, died Nov. 14, 2008. She was born May 11, 1919, to Arthur and Agnes Wynn of Bloomington. She married Arthur “Tal” Maroney in 1941. They resided in Bloomington until his death in 1970. In 1971 she married Travis Madden. They resided in Port Lavaca.
Rubye is survived by her daughter, Kathy Stroud, and her husband, Garry of Victoria and by her son-in-law, Travis “Skip” Madden, of Victoria. She is also survived by four grandchildren: grandson, Keith Madden, and his wife, Carol, and their children, Lauren, Travis, and Emily, of Victoria; granddaughter, Missy Klimitchek, and her husband, Dwayne, and their children, Kyle and Karsen, of Vanderbilt; granddaughter, April Stroud Ybarra, and her children, Tyler Vedder and Alec Ybarra, of Victoria; grandson, Brad Stroud, of Austin.
Rubye was preceded in death by her first husband, Tal Maroney; her second husband, Travis Madden; her parents, Arthur and Agnes Wynn; sisters, Nina Beard, Marge Garrett, and Lil Bryant; brothers, Coda Wynn and Alvin Wynn; and her daughter, Francine Madden.
Rubye was actively involved in her church and community. For many years she was instrumental in providing church services to a local nursing home. Rubye had a great sense of humor and was blessed with many friends, a number of which she considered family. She loved her family, her church, and her Lord. Rubye loved to cook and was best known for her sugar cookies and her chicken and dumplings.
Visitation will be 3-4:30 pm Sunday, November 16, 2008, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home in Port Lavaca.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, November 17, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca, Revs. David Bush and Mike Gresham officiating. Burial will follow in Crescent Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keith Madden, Brad Stroud, Dwayne Klimitchek, Marc Lantiegne, Carl Lee King, Virgil Martin Jr., Melvin Earl Garrett and Jerry Williams.
Honorary pallbearers are Virgil Martin, Bill Lowry, Nathan King, Gerald Wynn, Lila Williams, Mickey Beard, Thelma Wynn, Ted Smith, Rick Nichols, and Anthony Gohlke.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Port Lavaca or Palliative Care of Citizens Hospital.
