Robbye Cervenka Stewart passed away on Sept. 25, 2009, at her home in Wharton, following a sudden illness. She was born Nov. 2, 1938, in Port Lavaca, the daughter of Woodrow Cervenka and Vlasta Marek Cervenka.
She was a longtime resident of Port Lavaca, and has been a resident of Wharton since 1960. Mrs. Stewart was a 1956 graduate of Calhoun High School. She married David Lawrence Stewart on Feb. 9, 1959.
Mrs. Stewart formerly worked for First State Bank in Port Lavaca, and also worked for the Texas Employment Commission. She was a Merle Norman Cosmetics Distributor for many years. She also worked as secretary to the president of Wharton County Junior College for many years.
She was a member of Christ Is Life Church in Wharton, and a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her only child, a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Weathers, on April 20, 2000.
Survivors include her husband, David Stewart of Wharton; brother, Ron Cervenka of Pasadena; and one niece.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 30 at Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Atherton officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
