Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Each new year can be exciting. However, the new year can also bring about anxiety.
We are excited to see what the new year will bring. We are excited to see how God will lead us and what adventures we will experience. We are excited to see how we can spread the good news of the Gospel this year.
The new year can also bring about anxieties. We may wonder what will happen? We may wonder if 2019 will be a good year or if 2019 will be a year that is filled with challenges? We can wonder whom we will meet in 2019? We can wonder how we will be received? We can wonder if this will be a challenging year? Will 2019 be a smooth year without many trial and tribulations? Will there be a lot of financial adversities? Will there be a lot of medical adversities? Will 2019 be filled with loss or will 2019 be filled with great joy and excitement?
All of these types of things can easily go through our mind as we wonder what the new year will bring.
As we reflect upon 2018, there were great things that happened in 2018. We celebrated birthdays and anniversaries. There were births of grandchildren. We celebrated the achievements of high school and college graduations. We celebrated new memberships and confirmations.
There were times when 2018 brought its share of challenges. We mourned and grieved the loss of loved ones. We have had to endure difficulties from a medical or health perspective. Through it all, we endured challenges and hardships together, as a community of faith.
The new year can be scary. The uncertainty and the unknown can make us anxious. We do not need to be scared. We do not need to anxious. God is holding our hand each day. Jesus walks with us each day. No matter what we face in 2019, we are never alone.
As a community of faith, we all rejoice together in the highs of our life and we build each other up during our lows.
May 2019 be a year of great growth and happiness.
