This article comes from Mark 5:21-43 and is for those who are struggling with issues that causes their heart to bleed. It is also for the generation that looks like every dream and vision is dead. You can arise and get up.
This is a biblical story that starts with Jairus going to Jesus for help with his daughter that was at the point of death.
The name Jairus means Jehovah Enlightens. Jairus’ daughter was at the point of death. Jairus is the temple official who comes to Jesus, pleading for his 12-year-old daughter’s life. Jairus was rich, but his money would not heal his daughter. He was famous but his fame would not heal his daughter.
While Jairus and Jesus head to the house, there is also a woman with an issue of blood that spent all she had on doctors and had not gotten any better and only gotten worse.
Both the woman and the girl had no cure for what was wrong with them. The woman with the issue of blood, who’d been sick for 12 long years, interrupted Jairus and Jesus while going to raise his daughter from the dead. The girl had died at the tender age of 12. Jesus told Jairus, “Be not afraid, only believe.”
The woman was sick, and the little girl was dead. Sickness or death can disconnect you from the normal world. Both were isolated. Life sometimes puts you in a situation that you cannot fix alone. Some people would rather die alone then go for help.
Jesus came to the home of the little girl but she still could not reach out and touch him. We are also like that sometimes. Jesus is in the house but we still cannot touch him. You just do not have the strength to reach out and touch Jesus.
When Jesus came into the girl’s room, he put everybody out. There are some people that cannot be around you, for you to get what God promised you. Jesus did not go into that room to touch everybody but to touch somebody that could not touch him.
The woman broke all kinds of laws to get healing. The levitical law forbid her to touch a priest or any man. In spite of the law, she pressed her way through the crowd to touch Jesus. Today we must press our way through the disappointments, the heartaches, the embarrassment, the bankruptcy, just to touch the hem of Jesus.
The Bible does not give the woman a name, but she symbolizes a good or a bad church. The woman represented a good church that needed healing. She was separated from her family and friends. The book of Leviticus laws says any bed that anyone or anything she tounched would becme unclean. She broke the law and the law certainly did not want Jesus to touch the bleeding woman.
When Jesus gets to the 12-year-old girl that was dead, Jesus said to this little girl “Talitha cumi” which means “arise get up.”
I speak to every dead circumstance, to every vision and promise unfulfilled, to everything that has died before it’s time and say, “I command you in the name of Jesus, Talitha cumi, arise and get up.’”
You do not have to be isolated and be by yourself. Get up as the woman did and touch Jesus.
“He says he can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. Do not be discourage and do not be afraid because God will take care of your situation.
If you can wait it out, Jesus will work it out.
