Just because you cannot see it, does not mean it is not there.

Have you ever wondered how your eyes work? Do you know that just because you have two eyes and 20/20 vision you will not be able to see anything? Every one of us would be blind if it was not for light being received by our eyes. It takes light for all of us to see. You cannot see without light.

What are the things our eyes cannot see? We cannot see wind, oxygen and sound just to name a few.

Can we see the wind? No, because the air is transparent. However, you can see the effects of the wind, such as dust flurries, ripples on water, movement of leaves and movement of the clouds.

We also cannot see oxygen. Does that mean because we cannot see it, oxygen does not exist? When we consider God, just because you cannot see him doesn’t mean that he is not real. God exists even though you cannot see, smell or feel him physically.

Light is tricky. You probably know that we experience “light” by seeing it bounce off of something before being absorbed into our eyes. What about light? That is much tougher. In order to see the light, it has to be absorbed. Light shows us what we are seeing.

There is a story in the bible I want to share with you about how a prophet who was surrounded by a king who sent an army to capture Elisha and his servant.

One night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city. When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere.

“Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha.

“Don’t be afraid.” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs.”

Just because you cannot see it, does not mean it is not there.

Then Elisha prayed, “Oh Lord, open his eyes and let him see,”

The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

The truth is a lot of us see with our mind. Recently, I asked to my wife to hand me the phone, which I had placed on the kitchen table. She had just finished asking me to turn the volume down on the television so she subconsciously picked up the television remote and handed it to me. I asked her what she you doing and she replied, “Oh, I’m sorry my mind was on the remote.”

She went back to the table with her mind then on the phone and picked it up and gave me the phone.

There is a lot of things we cannot see, like radio waves or television waves. We cannot see them but that does not stop us from buying a television set or a cellphone and using them.

Just because you cannot see it, does not mean it is not there.
