HJM Elementary fourth grader Caroline O’Donnell spent her Memorial Day weekend in Washington D.C., after advancing to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

This spring, Caroline was named Champion of the County Spelling Bee, and then earned 4th place at the Regional Bee in Victoria.

She was selected for a special program called “RSVBee”, which gives more County Champions an opportunity to compete at the National Finals.

One of only 35 4th graders at the National Finals, Caroline represented her county and region well. While in D.C., Caroline had the opportunity to meet and take a picture with Dr. Bailly, famed Spelling Bee pronouncer.

She toured many sights in D.C., including the Smithsonian American History Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, the National Archives and the White House.
