The City of Port Lavaca is excited to announce that the HUD CDBG Program has awarded the city a $5.1 million Hurricane Harvey Disaster Recovery Infrastructure Grant.

The funds will be used to construct various street and drainage improvements in District 1 of the City, as depicted on the map attached in the comments. The completed project will provide street improvements to facilitate proper stormwater conveyance, provide continual street access during rain events, and reduce the chance of future flooding in the area.

Fire Chief Joe Reyes and Mayor Jack Whitlow provided crucial eye-witness accounts of the significant street flooding in this area during Hurricane Harvey, which helped the city to qualify for these grant funds.

It is anticipated that engineering will begin within the next few months.
