A man fell approximately three stories from a platform at Helena Chemical Co., Thursday, July 25.
According to Lieutenant Eric Salles with the Port Lavaca Police Department, Oscar Velazquez, 26, of Danevang fell from a conveyer belt platform while working at Helena Chemical Co.
“It looks like they were working on the grating on the platform, and one of the gratings came loose, and he fell approximately three stories on to a cement slab,” Salles said.
Velazquez was life-flighted to Memorial Hermann in Houston. Salles said PLPD checked on his status this morning, and he was still alive.
PLPD, Port Lavaca Fire Department and Calhoun County EMS all responded to the call.
