Charles “Chubby” Arthur McLester

Charles “Chubby” Arthur McLester, 88, passed away Monday, May 27, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Chubby was born Nov. 02, 1930 in Rockport to Ruby May and Archie A. McLester.

Chubby McLester, a third generation pioneer of the Rockport-Fulton area, was a U.S Army Veteran who proudly served his County in Germany, where he was stationed during the Korean War. Chubby was a boat captain for many years. He enjoyed fishing, horses and cattle, a total cowboy without a doubt. He was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, friend and overall an amazing man.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years of marriage, Sandra McLester; daughters, Mary Parr and Ruby Williams; stepdaughters, Diane Mooney, Bonnie Stephens and Connie Low; stepson, Steven Helms. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cheryl Hamilton; two sisters; and four brothers.

The family would like to thank Rick and Bobbie McLester, Dr. Stan Haun, Harbor Hospice of Rockport and the residence of Gulfway Village in Fulton for their special care, support and service.
