Henry Lee “Popo” Hayes

Henry Lee “Popo” Hayes, 65, of Port Lavaca, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020. He was born Sept. 9, 1955 in Port Lavaca. Henry was the president and owner of Hayes Electric.

He is survived by his daughters, Andrea D. Hayes Betancourt (Nicholas Goering) and Lauren Knowles (William); stepsister, Shirley Swaim (Bill); stepbrother, James May; “best” mother-in-law; Andrea Maseda Escobedo; brother-in-law; Manuel Escobedo Jr.; grandchildren: Chloe Ellison, Clayton Goering, Drew Goering, Jacob Betancourt and William Ezra Knowles; nieces, Misty Smith-Garcia (David) and Mandy Smith-Barnes; and nephew, Tyler May (Brandi).

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.V. and Zanabel Hayes.

Friends paid their respects and signed the book from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Nicholas Goering, William Knowles, Manuel Escobedo Jr., Brent Anderson, David Garcia, and Austin Escobedo.

Honorary Pallbearers are Robert “Raco” Maseda, Lalo Ortiz and Hayes Electric employees.
