Lester Willie Holub

Lester Willie Holub, 80, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2019. He was born June 11, 1939 in Fort Bend County to the late William and Alma Holub.

On Nov. 23, 1977, Lester married Joyce Gibson. He was an auto mechanic by trade. He could pretty much fix anything on wheels. He loved fishing every weekend in Port O’ Connor. He did not care what the weather was like; he was going to fish either way. He began working with wood by making wagons and entering them into the county fair. Everything he entered into the fair was made by hand, right down to the wheels on the wagons. He was ecstatic when he won first place. He would often be found at craft shows with his wife, Joyce.

Lester also liked to garden and was a volunteer firefighter for the Olivia/Port Alto Fire Department. He was a loving and gentle man. He and Joyce had a wonderful marriage together. They were always together and rarely left each other’s side. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he will be greatly missed.

Lester is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Holub; daughter, Sandra Wusterhausen (Stewart), of Rosenburg; step-daughter, Anna Lawler (Bob), of Port Lavaca; step-sons, Ray Hundl (Denise), of Missouri City; James Hundl, of Rosenburg, and Eugene Hundl, of Orchard; grandchildren: Korie Garza, Gabriel Garza, Angela Hundl, Jennifer St. Romain (Jonathan), Susan De La Garza, Jason Pahmiyer, Payton Hundl, and James W. Hundl; great-grandchildren, Trent and Gavin De La Garza; and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Regina Holub; son, Lester Steven Holub and stepson, Kenneth Hundl; brother, Larry Holub; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Hundl.

Lester’s family and friends will gather for a celebration of life at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at Bayside Community Church, located at 25080 State Highway 172 in Olivia, Texas.

Those wishing to make memorial donations in Lester’s memory are requested to do so to the Bayside Community Church Building Fund.
