Lucindo Garcia Escobar Sr., 83, of Victoria, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct 9, 2019. He was born June 25, 1936 in Cuero to the late Vicente and Angelita Garcia Escobar.
Lucindo married his love, Amada Soloya, May 29, 1961. He spent most of his life in the Port Lavaca area. He worked for more than 30 years as a cement truck driver, hauling cement all around the Coastal Bend area. Lucindo enjoyed working with his hands and building things. In later years, he loved working crossword puzzles and could work just about any puzzle that was put in front of him.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lucindo Escobar Jr., of Victoria, Norma Ann Escobar and her fiancé, Arthur Allison, of Victoria, and Ronnie Luis Escobar and his wife, Cristina, of Mission; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
Lucindo was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roberto Escobar Sr.; sisters, Maria Costilla and Demencia Rodriguez; and wife of over 50 years, Amada Soloya Escobar, who passed away in 2011.
Family and friends gathered for visitation from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at Grace Funeral Chapel in Port Lavaca, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca with Fr. Tommy Chen officiating. Burial followed at Port Lavaca City Cemetery where Lucindo was laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Amada.
Honoring Lucindo, pallbearers were Eric Escobar, Brandon Escobar, Ernest A. Velasquez, Sam Escobar, Carlos Costilla and Joe Luna. Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Allison, Jeremy Velasquez, Gavin Escobar and Steve Escobar.
