Nelson F. Marek

Nelson F. Marek, formerly of Victoria, passed away peacefully Monday, June 3, 2019, at Country Meadows in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was born in Port Lavaca, the son of the late Fred and Viola (Meyer) Marek.

He graduated from the University of Texas and went on to work as an engineer for Brown and Root for many years. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Port Lavaca. Beyond his successful work life, he was also a painter, played guitar, mathematician, archeologist, built a helicopter from scratch, world traveler and was a reservist in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his son David Marek and his wife, Susan, of Stewartsville, New Jersey; daughter, Heather Marek, of Bremerton, Washington; brother, Norman Marek, of Port Lavaca; and grandsons, Sean and Justin.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Marek.

A wake will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday July 8, at Salem Lutheran Church in Port Lavaca. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, also at Salem Lutheran Church Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery.
