The Calhoun Cross Country team traveled to Brazoswood for its second meet of the season last Saturday, August 24.
The Varsity Girl finished strong with Emme O’Donnell, Junior, taking home first place for the second consecutive week with a time of 19:10, and Phoebe Huang, freshmen, crack the top ten finishing sixth with 20:40.
Calhoun Cross Country Coach, Shane McGrory, said Kara Smith, Rea Chrisco, Cassandra Gonzalez, and Cristina Jaramillo gave a strong effort at the second meeting.
On the Varsity Boys, Senior Daniel Sanchez finished 14th place at the meet with 17:52 and Junior Ismael Ysaguirre came in 23rd place with 18:37.
Dylyn Gonzalez, Jose Ledezma, Ismael Herrera, and Cesar Pina all ran under 22 minutes, according to McGrory.
--JV Cross Country--
In the two mile JV girls race, Freshmen Chelsea Saenz ran a 15:26 and came in 17th place. Freshman Alysha Padilla in 18:30 and Sophomore Rae’anna Campos in 19:34, McGrory said.
On the JV Boys side, Freshman Seth Sandberg finished at 21:52, and McGrory said there was “solid effort” by runners Ray Adams, Emmanuel Flores, Will Gruber, and Dylan Morales at the second meet.
