Mary J. Cumpian

Mary J. Cumpian, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born on May 1, 1930, to the late Benjamin Cruz and Gregoria Garza Cruz.
Mary was a woman of deep faith, quiet strength, and unwavering love for her family. She lived a long, full life surrounded by those she cherished most.
She is survived by her devoted children: Steven Cumpian (Shirley) of Victoria, TX; Virginia Castillo (Richard), Robert J. Cumpian (Sherri) and Monica Velez of Port Lavaca, TX. She also leaves behind her loving sister Susie Daigle, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great–grandchildren with one on the way, all of whom were the joy of her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Esteban H. Cumpian; her parents; her sister Isabel Warren; and her brother Joe G. Cruz.
Pallbearers honoring Mary's memory will be Duane Tingley, Keanu Velez, Richard Castillo, Jason Hase, Johnny Warren, and Clay Daigle.
Honorary pallbearers are: Ryan Castillo, Jimmy Cumpian, Rene Garcia, Patrick Hemby, and Bo Warren.
Services will take place Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 5PM—8PM with the Holy Rosary at 6PM at Angel Lucy's Funeral Home in Victoria TX. Services will continue Friday, April 25, 2025, at Our Lady of the Gulf in Port Lavaca at 9:15AM with the Funeral Mass at 10AM. Interment will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Mary's warmth, wisdom, and kindness will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
