Raul Garza

Raul Garza 95 years old from Brownsville, TX (lived in Port Lavaca) went to be with the lord on May 21 after battling his last battle with his health. He was born on August 4, 1928 to the late Pauline Kingsbury and Nicholas Garza. He served his country beginning at the age of 15 as a member of the United States Navy for five years during WWII in the pacific seas. He is an Old Salt and held all service men and woman in the highest regard. He worked at Burton Auto Supply during his younger years. Later in life he worked as a Longshoreman for the Port of Brownsville and later dedicated his last working years to United States Customs.

Raul Garza is preceded in death by his wife Margarita M. Garza, his oldest son Raul Garza Jr and last but not least his long time companion and love of his life, Angela Gonzalez. He is survived by his son Rolando Garza (Cecilia), and his daughters Cecilia Gomez, Cleo Elee, (Kenneth) and Delia Poe (Alan.) He leaves behind his loving grandchildren Christopher Garza, David Garza, Daniel Garza (Vianey), Cassie Perez (Joey), Brett Garza (Katy), Roberto B. Garza, Edward Gomez, Vanessa Gomez (Eddie), Cody Miller (Lisa), Kenny Garza (Raquel), Crystal Gamez and Bianca Gamez, He also leaves behind 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter and several extended family members.

Raul was a caring soul who enjoyed the many friendships he treasured within Brownsville and Port Lavaca. Even at the age of 95 he had a quick wit and countless stories to tell. He cared deeply about his community from making numerous donations to local and national charities. While he will be greatly missed on earth, we find peace that he will be waiting for us in Heaven! May he rest in peace!

The family will receive family and friends at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. on Friday June 7 2024. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at Buena Vista Cemetery at 10 a.m. with full military honors.
