Derek Andrew Lopez

Derek Andrew Lopez, 29, of Port Lavaca passed away June 4, 2024. He was born August 3, 1994 in Port Lavaca to Sammy Lynn Lopez and Salina Marie Prince. Derek worked in Home Health Care and was a Catholic. He loved spending time riding motorcycles and he loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Derek loved his family and was a great protector of them, especially to his mom. He was an absolute wonderful son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend.

He is survived by his parents; sister, Jaclynn Lopez; brothers, Lawrence Joe Caldera, Brandon Kane Caldera, and Sammy Lynn Lopez Jr; grandparents, Hilda Prince, Daniel and Tommie Lopez; and nieces and nephews, Renezamae Sahil Caldera, Lawrence Blaze Caldera, Silas Kai Caldera, Ryder Kye Caldera, Noah Alexander Rodriguez, and Nierah Naveah Ysassi.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Glen Franklin Prince and nephew, Zaylen Lee.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will follow in Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Honorary Pallbearers are Lawrence Joe Caldera, Brandon Kane Caldera, Sammy Lynn Lopez Jr., Jadon Gonzales, Lupe Olivares Jr., and Dominic Caldera.
