Amadeo “Po” Chavana Sr.

Amadeo Chavana Sr., lovingly known as “Po” by those closest to him, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at the age of 86. He was born on July 12, 1939, in Encinal, Texas, to the late Justo and Elvira Chavana.
A devoted member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Amadeo was a man of faith, family, and dedication. He will be remembered for the love he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the lasting example he leaves behind.
He is survived by his daughters, Alma Linda Delgado (Gene), Deborah Denise Townley (Arnold), and Terrie Delcampo; sons, Amadeo “Mario” Chavana Jr. (Audrey), Adrian Lee Chavana (Elizabeth), and Jesse Ray Chavana (Shannon); fifteen grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Amadeo was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susie, parents, Justo and Elvira, and by his siblings.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Tommy Chen, will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Logan Chavana, Amadeo Cayden Chavana III, Aaron Delgado, Adrian Chavana Jr., Jimmy Desoto Jr., and Johnathon Paul Desoto.Honorary Pallbearers include: Gene Delgado, Arnold Townley, Landon Chavana, Jacob Chavana, and Matthew Galindo.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of South Texas Dornburg Center of Compassion or Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School in Amadeo’s memory.
Amadeo “Po” Chavana Sr. will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
