David Erwin Hall, 54, passed away peacefully athome on Tuesday,September 2, 2025. He was born on January 29, 1971, in Austin, TX to David Speer and Delores Richter Hall. David graduated from Wharton High School in 1990 and the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's Degree in Integrated Technology in 1997. He married his beloved wife, soul mate, and best friend, Amanda on December 31, 2022.
David devoted his life to serving others. He relocated to Calhoun County 26 years ago and proudly completed a 25-year career in law enforcement with theCalhoun County Sheriff’s Office. For the past 8.5 years, he continued his service to the community as Calhoun County Commissioner for Precinct 1. David’s tenure asCommissioner will have al asting impact on the county he loved. Selfless and dedicated, he led with integrity, loyalty, and a deep desire to see his community flourish. The many projects and improvements he championed will stand as a testament to his hard work and vision for years to come.
David’s love for Calhoun County went beyond his career. A loyal supporter of the Calhoun Sandcrabs and Sandies, he could always be found in the stands—home or away—cheering them on with his wife. He loved the water and spent 20 years as a fishing guide before settling into “beach life” with his family as proud residents of Magnolia Beach. He was also a devoted supporter of the Magnolia Beach Volunteer Fire Department and Calhoun County Little League.
A man of faith, David was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Victoria. He was also aMaster Mason and member of Port Lavaca Masonic Lodge #36. David was a member of both the Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of the Texas Revolution. True to his adventurous spirit, David was a Jeep enthusiast who embraced the joy and camaraderie of being a Jeep owner.
David will be remembered for his infectious smile and contagious laugh that could fill a room. He never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. His love for hosting gatherings, barbecuing, trying out new recipes, and sharing laughter with others reflected his generous spirit. Above all, David was a devoted husband, father, and son. His world revolved around his family, and he loved deeply and unconditionally. He brought out the best in those around him, leaving a legacy of kindness, service, and love.
David is survived by his parents, David Speer and Delores Richter Hall; his brother Hank Hall (Gayle); his loving wife Amanda; his children Tristian Hall, Colt Massey (Ashley), Cory Massey, and Caytln Massey; his in-laws Morris Passmore (Bernie); and brothers-in-law Jason Passmore (Misty) and John Passmore. He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies, Daisy and Grayson, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends and coworkers who will cherish his memory.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 4:00–8:00p.m. at the BauerCommunity Center in Port Lavaca, Texas. A Celebration of Life will follow on Thursday,September 11, 2025, at 10:00a.m. at First English Lutheran Church in Victoria, Texas with burial following at Greenlawn Cemetery in Port Lavaca.
Pallbearers will be Hank Hall, Jason Passmore, John Passmore, Stephen Ullman, Chipper Dowell, andMichael Schorlemmer. Honorary Pallbearers include Colt Massey, Cory Massey, Judge Vern Lyssy, Commissioner Ronnie Best, Commissioner Joel Behrens, Commissioner Gary Reese, Harry Poe, Mike Biggs, and the Precinct 1 Crew.
