Shirley Anne Canion

Shirley Anne Canion, 89, of Port Lavaca passed away September 5, 2025. She was born September 10, 1935 inPort Lavaca to George and Bessie Selby Canion. Shirley was retired from UnionCarbide in Seadrift, Texas and Prime Source in Houston, Texas. She was a member of the First UnitedMethodist Church. She was known for her green thumb and love of gardening, playing dominoes, watching sports, country dancing, and rodeos. 

She is survived by her daughter, Gayln Blinka-Hiser (Douglas); sonsClayton Zwerschke (Pam),David Zwerschke (Wanda); sister-in-law, Vicki Canion; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and father of her children, Arthur Joe (Bubba) Zwerschke; her son, Benton Zwerschke; parents; sister,Mavis Canion Saylor; and brothers, Selby LynnCanion, Tommy Canion,Jimmy Canion, LloydCanion and Larry Canion.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 5-7pm at RichardsonColonial Funeral Home.Funeral services will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 10am at First United Methodist Church in Port Lavaca. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens.Pallbearers are Myles Blinka, Bryant Zwerschke, Stephen Janak, Erik Thompson, Dustin Purvis and Anthony Blinka.
