Rosalio “Chalio” Balderas, age 65 of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024. Rosalio was born on December 14, 1958 in San Rafael, Lagunillas, S.L.P. Mexico to the late J. Praxedis Balderas and Maria Balderas.

Rosalio, served as a soldier of the National Military Service in Mexico in the year of 1978, he then came to the United States to find a stable and financial life. Living in Port Lavaca, he found the love of his life, Sylvia, and found work as a captain of the gulf boat, “Rudy Dale” with the late Johnny Portilla, which became his passion for 20 plus years. Rosalio was a good man that helped anyone without expecting anything in return. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend. He was a great conversationalist, telling stories, jokes and talking about politics. Reading and watching the news was one of his favorite past times, so he could then debate later with his nephew, “El Red Mayorga”. Rosalio loved animals, and had many throughout the years, his favorites, cats, and dogs. He has left behind his roots of love and compassion to everyone who crossed his path. May you rest in peace.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Balderas; son, Raymond Lopez; daughters, Rosie Balderas (Essie), Anna Perez (Elias), Selina Balderas (Jay), and Sylvia Perez (Greg); brothers, Gregorio Balderas (Leocaldia), Roman Balderas (Mary Ester) and Manuel Balderas; sisters, Braulia Balderas, and Alberta Balderas; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 18 nieces and nephews, and his pet companion, Aria.

He is preceded in death by his parents, J. Praxedis and Maria Balderas; brother, Narciso Balderas; sister, Ma Mateo Balderas, Nicolasa Balderas, and Crisanta Balderas; sons, Danny Heysquierdo and Manuel Heysquierdo; granddaughter, Felizity Heysquierdo; niece, Guadalupe Balderas San Juan; and his long-time companion, Izzy.

Honoring Rosalio as Pallbearers are, Raymond Lopez, Henry Martinez, Mario Mayorga, Carlos Balderas, Gregorio Balderas, and Roman Balderas.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Rosie Balderas.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 6:00PM - 8:30PM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:15PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 415 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca with Father Tommy Chen to officiate. Interment to follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery, 500 Martin Luther King Drive, Port Lavaca.
